Let Our Waiting Be Worship

I have so many thanks to say and so many stories to tell… Nepal was absolutely incredible, and I am indebted with gratitude for your prayers while my team and I were away!

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to share everything here… the gifts of the experience (both heavy and hopeful) are too numerous to recount.  I do hope to have a conversation if any of you are interested to hear more — especially about why human trafficking is so prevalent in Nepal, how it differs from how trafficking happens here locally, and how horrifyingly common it is among our own communities.  We saw and experienced some intense things, but God is powerfully present and at work in this nation (as He is here), and I feel so blessed to have seen it firsthand.  We visited three children’s homes, walked along the dusty border of Nepal and India, met women who are making a new life for themselves, and encountered people who are so willing and obedient to God’s call on their life to develop His heart for the issue of human trafficking in this part of the world…

I hope a few pictures will help give a glimpse into this mission that was unlike anything I’ve ever had the privilege to experience:

Coming home has been a little bit of a whirlwind, and sometimes we don’t always get to catch a breath… but God is so gracious in His provision.  He equips us with rest and endurance as each are needed.  And somehow the magnitude of this trip coupled with the whole-hearted excitement of what’s to come for us do not have to be mutually exclusive.  He is in each, fuels each, and allows me to process and steward each, as much as He lets me comprehend in each moment.

We are waiting.

We’re a waiting family!!!

Our profile books have come in, and our official letter came in the mail while I was in Nepal:

This means we could get “the call” any day now.  Or months from now.  When we do, the expecting mother could be ready to deliver — or still have months to go.  We just don’t know, but we know that God is so big to care about each “forgotten” person in every corner of the world, and He has counted the number of hairs on our baby’s head, and His timing is perfect.  He is so big and so sovereign!  No matter how little we are actually in control, we can trust the one who is.

We are SO excited.  It’s just surreal that this time has come.  And at the same time, it’s just another step forward in a process that still feels so right…  Thank you for continuing to pray for us!

We are waiting!!!  Let our waiting be worship… a tangible trust.

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I hope.” ~Psalm 130:5
